Optically polished mirrors are available in three qualities :-
1/20 wave, i.e. flat to 0.000025 mm. 1/10 wave, i.e. flat to 0.00005 mm. 1/4 wave, i.e. flat to 0.000125 mm.
Tolerance on diameter +0/-0.25 mm.
All mirrors are finished in protected aluminium.
A choice of three materials is offered :-
Fused Silica has an extremely low coefficient of expansion and is perfectly transparent. A higher grade of this material is available which is suitable for optical systems where the transmission of the flat is important.
Zero Expansion Glass The coefficient of expansion of this material has obvious advantages but it does tend to be slightly yellow-brown in colour.
BK7 This glass is a high quality optical material with a higher coefficient of expansion than zero expansion glass but it is perfectly transparent.
If you can not find the mirror you require in our catalogue we will be pleased to quote for a mirror to your own specification.
